Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is a long-chain fatty acid produced naturally by the body, but is also found in foods such as egg yolk, soybean and sunflower oils. This molecule, studied for eighty years for its unique and varied health benefits, is now the subject of particular attention due to its crucial role in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a lipid communication network with critical physiological functions. It is a signaling network that communicates with other systems in the body, helping to regulate them. PEA is an endocannabinoid produced locally by cells and accumulates in tissues following any injury, physical stress or pain.
By inhibiting the activation of mast cells that cause further inflammation (such as the release of histamine), PEA acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. This unique molecule has other direct and indirect mechanisms of action; it even reinforces the action of other endocannabinoids through its “entourage effect”. The PEA molecule has been clinically demonstrated for pain relief in osteoarthritis of the knee as well as for the reduction of symptoms of low back pain. This powerful small molecule is well tolerated by athletes, children and the elderly.
AOR is leading the way in transforming the impressive and evolving research into the positive effects of PEA on the human endocannabinoid system to provide its valued customers with a safe therapeutic formula to combat chronic pain and systemic inflammation. AOR Active PEA is produced in Italy and obtained from ecologically sustainable Malaysian palm oil, purified and responsibly processed for optimal bioavailability.
