Biotone EFA is an effective blend of free lecithin-derived plant sterols, essential fatty acids and antioxidants that supports optimal health. Plant sterols in free form act on the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine. They move dietary cholesterol into micelles, resulting in increased cholesterol excretion in the stool and reduced serum cholesterol levels. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 66 adults with high cholesterol, daily supplementation of 0.3 to 0.5 g of plant sterol esters significantly reduced LDL cholesterol levels, depending on the dose administered, over a four-week period. Antioxidants promote good health by eliminating free radicals to prevent oxidative damage.
