Magnesium Complex Liquid is a concentrated combination of three organic sources of magnesium, including glycinate, citrate and malate. Magnesium is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in Canada: more than 34% of Canadians aged 19 and older do not consume the estimated average requirement (EAR) of magnesium, with numbers exceeding 40% among older men and women. Magnesium, the fourth most abundant mineral in the body, is a cofactor in more than 300 metabolic reactions. Magnesium plays an important role in regulating muscle function as a cofactor for creatine kinase, an enzyme that generates ATP from phosphocreatine stored in muscle tissue during intense exercise. Supplementing magnesium has been shown to improve anaerobic-alactic metabolism and help reduce the frequency and intensity of muscle cramps in pregnant women (who typically have lower serum magnesium levels).
