Mitochondrial Formula is a unique combination of nutrients designed to improve mitochondrial function by increasing ATP production, while providing intracellular antioxidant protection. Mitochondria are the energy plants of the cell. They consume 80 to 90% of the cell's oxygen to produce ATP through the process of oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). Alteration of mitochondrial bioenergy is at the origin of the aging process and many chronic cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological conditions. Acetyl-L-carnitine shuttles fatty acids and the mitochondrial membrane, which is essential for generating energy through fatty acid metabolism. The antioxidant CoQ10 is a component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and an essential cofactor of the electron transport system.
