- Provides 150 mg of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) per serving, which has been shown in clinical trials to increase blood levels of NAD+.
- NMN is the immediate precursor of NAD+ and compensates for the age-related decline in NAD+ levels.
- NAD+ is an essential coenzyme for many pathways related to energy production, mitochondrial health, and DNA repair, and its decline is strongly associated with aging.
- Vegetarian capsules with clinically established dosage
NMN is a bioavailable precursor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a key coenzyme necessary for more than 500 enzymatic reactions. As many of these enzymatic reactions are linked to cellular metabolism, aging, inflammation, circadian rhythm, mitochondrial respiration, glycolysis and DNA repair, NAD+ is considered essential for human health and longevity. NAD+ is also necessary for the expression of sirtuins, enzymes with numerous cellular regulatory effects that are particularly important for inflammation, DNA repair, and energy metabolism. Much research shows that aging causes a decrease in the expression of NAD+ and sirtuins, which leads to impaired mitochondrial function and biogenesis and increased oxidative damage, drivers of the aging process itself as well as many diseases associated with aging, including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
Controlled clinical trials have demonstrated multiple benefits of NMN supplementation, including improving insulin sensitivity and signaling in women with impaired glucose metabolism, as well as aerobic capacity in healthy runners, reducing sleepiness, and improving sitting posture in older adults.6-8 To illustrate its potential to act on aging pathways by restoring NAD+ levels, NMN supplementation during 12 weeks showed a trend toward reduction in arterial stiffness, an independent age-related risk factor for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
