PureLean® Fiber contains a blend of PreticX™ xylooligosaccharides, soluble fiber from glucomannan, guar gum, apple pectin and prune powder and insoluble fiber from cellulose and flax. Soluble fiber helps slow the rate of digestion, promoting digestive health and nutrient assimilation. They also absorb water and add volume in the digestive tract to support weight management as part of a healthy lifestyle that includes a low-calorie diet and regular exercise. Research has found that the high molecular weight and viscosity of glucomannan are particularly favorable for these effects. In an eight-week double-blind trial, glucomannan provided statistically significant support for weight management in combination with a healthy lifestyle. Fiber also promotes gastrointestinal motility and regularity, promoting healthy, softer stools by adding bulk. Studies on glucomannan indicate that this fiber promotes abdominal comfort, gastrointestinal motility and bowel regularity, and is well tolerated. Additionally, xylooligosaccharides and soluble fiber are fermented in the large intestine by the intestinal microflora, producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). SCFAs are important sources of energy for the colon and may support healthy gastrointestinal motility. In addition, SCFAs preserve the acidity of the intestinal environment, thus creating optimal conditions for the development of beneficial bacteria. Clinical research has demonstrated that PreticX™ is well tolerated and less likely to cause common gastrointestinal upset associated with other oligosaccharides, such as bloating or gas.
