- Bioflavonoid for allergy and inflammation management (science-based)
Quercetin has antioxidant activity and is used in herbal medicine as a protector of blood vessels. Mast cells contribute to the inflammatory process of allergic reactions, where immunological stimulation leads to degranulation of the mast cell, as well as the generation of numerous cytokines and inflammatory mediators.
Bromelain is a proteolytic digestive enzyme derived from the stem of the pineapple. Bromelain has been shown to counteract the fibrin and kinin pathways, which stimulate plasmin which blocks the mobilization of endogenous arachidonic acid and reduces prostaglandin synthesis, reducing localized inflammation and edema.
Studies suggest that Bromelain may also enhance the effectiveness of Quercetin.
