TKI is a blend of vitamins A and C that contributes to good health. Vitamin C plays important roles in the body, including preventing DNA damage from free radicals as well as the production of collagen, the main structural protein in connective tissue. As collagen is also the main protein involved in wound healing, vitamin C deficiencies can impair wound healing. Vitamin A contributes to skin health by helping to support the protective function of skin cells. It increases the proliferation of cells in mitosis in the epidermis, compresses the outer epidermal layer composed of dead cells and increases the number of glycosaminoglycans, polysaccharides helping to moisturize the skin. Because vitamin A contributes to immune function by stimulating the development of immune system cells, vitamin A deficiencies reduce the ability of macrophages to ingest and destroy bacteria. The polyphenolic and flavonoid content of dandelions is three times greater in the leaves than in the roots.
